A nice and very elegant bronze sculpture by Andrée Guerval( pseudonym of Raymonde Guerbe) circa 1930.

Depicting a naked woman with roses in her hairs and at her feet.
Dark green patina, traces of gilding on roses, on a rectangular green marble base.
Base resting on a gilt bronze plinth.

She was the wife of the famous French Art Deco sculptor Pierre Le Faguays.
Signed A Guerval 1923 and foundry stamp LNJL ( Les Neveux de J Lehman ) under the piece.
Ancient Cast.

Description

Andrée Guerval ( 1894-1995 ), born in Paris.
Her real name is Raymonde Guerbe, as an artist she used both her real name and the pseudonym Andrée Guerval.
Around 1919, Raymonde Guerbe was a student at the dance school in Paris, run by Isadora Duncan.
She exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in Paris, between 1923 to 1938.
She was the wife of the famous French sculptor Pierre Le Faguays.
The two artists often worked together, pieces signed R Guerbe or A Guerval were in fact the work of this talented woman.
