Very important dish in enameled and cracked polychrome earthenware by Longwy circa 1930.

It represents a mythologycal scene decorated with a woman and a sea monster.
Superb polychromy and enamelling.
Stamped Primavera Longwy, and Claude Levy under the dish.

Extremely rare dish, in perfect condition,very difficult to find. Few copies were made.

Description

The Longwy earthenware is renowned for the quality of its enamels. It works for ” Primavera ” during the Art Deco period.
” Primavera ” is the Art workshop of the department store ” Le Printemps ” in Paris. It was founded in 1912.
During the Art Deco period, Longwy called upon great artists for the decoration of its objects.Claude Levy is one of the greatest artist of this period.
Her pieces are extremely rare,and much sought after collectors.
