A superb and very rare bronze sculpture by Demeter Chiparus circa 1930.
It represents a seated Egyptian bather.Silver and gold patina, raised on a nice brrown onyx enhanced with three onyx bars.
Signed Chiparus and 5, on the sculpture.
Ancient cast.

Description

Dimitri Chiparus ( 1888-1950 ) born in Romania.
He emigrated to Paris where he studied under Antonin Mercier and Jean Boucher.
His works in the 20’s were influenced by the interest in Egypt, and after by the ” Ballet Russe “.
He is always the most important sculptor of decorative sculptures from the Art Deco period.
